Political Science Lecturer and President of the University of Ghana chapter of the University Teachers Association (UTAG), Prof Ransford Gyampo has indicated that the Association has met with the government on galamsey.

He says before the election of 2024, the association met with all aspirants to sign a pact that would force them to halt galamsey within 3 months of their government.

This was why the association decided to call off their "galamsey strike" and they intend to ensure that the current government adheres to provisions in their pact.

As a result, UTAG met with the government on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 to remind them of the pact they signed ahead of the 2024 elections.
