President John Dramani Mahama has called on the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dominic Ayine, to prioritise strengthening the country's legal framework to facilitate national development.
This follows the swearing-in ceremony of Dr Cassiel Ato Forson as Finance Minister, Dominic Ayine as Minister of Justice, John Abu Jinapor as Minister of Energy, Eric Opoku as Minister of Food and Agriculture, Kwame Agbodza as Minister of Roads and Highways, and Haruna Iddrisu as Minister of Education.
Addressing the sworn-in ministers of state, President Mahama emphasized the importance of the legal sector in ensuring justice, accountability, and transparency in the country.
He commissioned the Attorney-General to oversee the National Constitutional Validation Conference which aims at amending the country's constitution 'to make it a living document for the future.' "The Attorney-General will be required to reform our justice system to make it fair and transparent to all Ghanaians and also be responsible for holding people accountable and making sure that the sword of justice goes after people who have misappropriated the resources of Ghanaians. "One of the tasks you would have to undertake is to shepherd the National Constitutional Validation Conference, in order that we can begin amendment of our constitution to make it a living document for the future," he said.
