Kwabena Sarpong Akosah, a journalist based in New York City and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for introspection and unity within the party following its significant defeat in the 2024 general elections.

In a video shared on Facebook, Akosah emphasised the need for an official postmortem to understand the reasons behind the party's loss, describing it as "humiliating." He stated, "The postmortem has not officially been done for all party members to know what caused the huge defeat in the 2024 elections.

We hope it will be done so we get to find out the root causes of this humiliating defeat." Reflecting on his political experiences since 1992 and international voting trends, Akosah noted that voters often resist retaining a party for a third term due to perceptions of "power corruption." He remarked, "Most voters are not likely to vote to retain a party for the third time because of power corruption.

It's a global trend, and we should have anticipated this challenge." Despite the challenges, Akosah defended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's tenure, highlighting his significant achievements. "I think the critics of Nana Addo should cut him some slack," he said. "I believe he did well with implementing Free SHS and ensuring the stability of light.
