Member of for the Sekondi Constituency, has dismissed recent calls for (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to apologise for Ghanaians' economic difficulties.  According to him, the demands for an apology are baseless. His comment followed Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam's apology on August 6 for the economic strain caused by the Domestic Debt Exchange Program (DDEP).  While some praised the apology, others, including former President John Mahama, argued it should not have come from the Finance Minister. Speaking on Adom FM's morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Mercer questioned the rationale behind blaming Dr. Bawumia and the government for the economic crisis, attributing the hardships to a combination of internal and external factors.
