The Police have arrested a ride-hailing driver, who was later identified as an off-duty Police officer, for allegedly shooting a male adult at Koans Estate near Kuntunse in Accra on Sunday, 18th August 2024. The incident occurred around 4:00 am. on Sunday following an alleged confrontation between the deceased, identified as Stanley Ahadzi, and General Constable Smith Gyeke over a disputed fare. The body of the deceased is currently deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy, while the suspect is in Police custody as part of the investigation into the incident, the Police said in a statement on Monday August 19. Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) have visited the family of the deceased to commiserate with them and assured them that the incident will be fully investigated and the officer involved will be made to face justice.
