President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Kofi Iddie Adams as the Minister Designate for Sports and Recreation.
Adams, the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, must be vetted and approved by parliament before assuming the role.
Adams' nomination comes after earlier speculation that former Sports and Youth Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye was the preferred candidate.
Although Vanderpuye had been a strong contender, Mahama has opted for Adams to lead the newly restructured ministry, which now includes Recreation, separate from Youth.
