The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare has given assurances of providing maximum security during the voter register exhibition exercise. This follows a visit by the IGP to the Electoral Commission as part of efforts to ensure a peaceful election. In his address to the Electoral Commission, the IGP stated that the police service is fully prepared to deploy personnel to all polling centres where the exhibition exercise will take place. "We want to assure all and sundry that we are poised for what is ahead. With all the work we've been doing with the EC, we decided on the [eve] of yet another major milestone in the 2024 elections to come around and dot all the 'I's and cross all the 'T's and make sure that as we have been saying that this year's election in terms of peace, law and order from our side and all transparency and fairness on the side of all the other security services will be second to none," he stated. Meanwhile, the IGP has urged all stakeholders to remain calm as the EC works to resolve challenges that may arise.
