The Minister-Designate for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza has strongly refuted claims made by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo regarding the construction of new roads in Ghana.
During his vetting before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on January 20, 2025, Agbodza clarified that the government's road record since 2017 does not reflect the ambitious figures previously stated." At the time of the transition, the new roads constructed amounted to 673 kilometres," Agbodza pointed out.
He emphasized that the claim of 11,000 kilometres of new roads being constructed under the Akufo-Addo administration was inaccurate.
According to the Minister-Designate, the government's focus during this period was not on new road construction but rather on re-graveling and graveling existing roads.
