Member of Parliament for Bawku in the Upper East Region, Mahama Ayariga, has commended the military for its tireless efforts in ensuring peace as the government engages feuding factions to find a lasting solution to the prolonged Bawku chieftaincy conflict.
Ayariga expressed gratitude to the joint military taskforce for their role in protecting lives in the troubled town through patrols and providing escorts for civilians on the highways.
Speaking during the maiden West African Soldiers Social Activity held by the 11 Mechanised Infantry Battalion of the Ghana Armed Forces in Bolgtabga, Ayariga praised the peacekeeping troops for their professionalism, commitment, and discipline. "Today, as we celebrate the fruits of your hard work, we also recognize the significant role you continue to play in ensuring the security and stability of Bawku.
I must confess that the 11 Mechanised soldiers deployed in Bawku, including those of the joint taskforce, have an essential place in my heart.
