A group calling itself, Election Watch Ghana, has gathered at the Electoral Commission's headquarters to demand the release of the Provisional Voter Register (PVR) to political parties. This action follows the EC's delay in publishing the provisional voter register as required by the Constitutional Instrument governing the 2024 elections, despite the EC's assurances. The delay has sparked outrage among the opposition NDC and other stakeholders involved in the 2024 general elections. In an interview with the media at the EC Headquarters, the Convenor of Election Watch Ghana, Mark Ewusi, explained that the delay in releasing the register is casting a shadow over the transparency and integrity of the electoral process. "We all know that per the calendar of the Electoral Commission, tomorrow is said to be the day for the exhibition and it is very prudent for political parties to get hold of the provisional register so that we can scrutinise it for the exercise tomorrow. "Unfortunately for us, we got here and the commissioners themselves and the workers had not resumed work," he stated.
