The Kontihene of Akyem Asuom, Nana Boadi Amponim Obodade III, has said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should remain in opposition for the next thirty-two (32) years to better serve Ghanaians with their ideas.
According to him, the NPP tends to perform better when in opposition, rather than when the party is in government.
In an interview with Kasapa FM, he stated, "The NPP as a party should remain in opposition for 20 to 32 years and help Ghanaians with their ideas, as they perform better in opposition." The chief further called on President John Dramani Mahama to institutionalise the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee.
He said that ORAL should be empowered with the legal authority to prosecute and take individuals to court, urging the president to push for laws that will provide ORAL with prosecutorial powers. "I am begging the powers that be, go to Parliament, enact the laws that will back ORAL, so that ORAL will have all the capacity to prosecute, the legal right to go to court and subject all these people to what Ghanaians want," he stated.
