Police has restored calm, law and order at Nkwanta in the Oti Region after renewed chieftaincy dispute which led to the death of five persons.

The police in a statement on Friday, January 17 said the violent clashes led to the destruction of eight buildings and a shop while five others sustained injuries.

A reinforcement team composing of police and military officers were deployed to Nkwanta to restore order.

The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
