Following a widely shared social media video suggesting a large blaze near the Akosombo Dam, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has issued a call for calm.
The service assured the public that there is no cause for concern and clarified that the fire is not as close to the dam as claimed.
The GNFS acknowledged the situation and emphasized that its personnel are actively monitoring the fire. "We wish to set the record straight that the fire seen in the video is absolutely nowhere near the Akosombo Dam.
However, we acknowledge that the situation is being closely monitored by our personnel, who remain on high alert," the Fire Service stated in a Facebook post.
