Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has set an ambitious goal for Ghana: achieving Olympic success at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. He revealed this during his manifesto launch ahead of the 2024 elections. Despite Ghana's rich potential in various sports, the nation has historically underperformed at the Olympics, securing only five medals, with just one medal earned during the 4th Republic at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago. The NPP flagbearer has outlined comprehensive development plans that his future government intends to implement to change this trajectory and unlock Ghana's vast sports potential. These plans include sustainable funding, targeted development programs, and a specific initiative aimed at Olympic success.
