The West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo) has announced a two-week postponement of its offshore pipeline cleaning and inspection exercise, commonly referred to as "pigging," in a move aimed at accommodating key stakeholder interests.
Initially scheduled to begin on January 20, 2025, the comprehensive pipeline maintenance activity will now commence on February 3, 2025, a statement by WAPCo said.
This decision comes after intense negotiations led by a technical committee established by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah to tackle the looming energy challenge.
The maintenance was flagged by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) as a significant threat to the country's electricity supply.
