Following recent fire outbreaks that have resulted in significant losses, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has announced a series of new measures aimed at enhancing fire safety in the nation's major markets.

The GNFS outlined steps to improve market safety and provide 24-hour fire coverage in a statement released on January 14, 2025.

To ensure a prompt response to potential fire incidents, personnel and fire apparatus will now be stationed at markets across the country from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am daily.

A specialized task force has also been created to patrol the markets every day to monitor fire safety and ensure quick action in the event of a fire.
