A group named Nmati Abonase Lands Committee Taskforce allegedly affiliated with the La Traditional Council has invaded the La Trade Fair Centre attempting to halt ongoing redevelopment and renovation works at the site.

In the early hours of Tuesday, January 14 the group raided the construction site and attempted to drive out workers.

Speaking to Metro TV, the group alleged that their ancestors had ceded the land to the government during Kwame Nkrumah's administration, with the understanding that the La Traditional Area would receive compensation.

However, they claim that the promise has remained unfulfilled to this day.
