President John Dramani Mahama has voiced his preference for more inclusive ways to uphold traditional family values rather than the implementation of a legislative instrument like the Anti-LGBTQ+ bill.

During a meeting with the Catholic Bishops Conference, President Mahama opined that promoting dialogue through moral education will be a better approach to address stakeholder concerns on the family value situation rather than initiating harsh legal measures.

President Mahama posits that Ghana's culture and moral values could better be preserved through a curriculum that instils family values in the younger generation. "We won't need a bill to enforce our family values, and that's why I think more than even the Family Values Bill, it's us agreeing on a curriculum that inculcates these values into our children as they're growing up so that we don't need to legislate it", he stated.

He suggests that "for the bill to have broader legitimacy and a higher chance of success, it should ideally come with government backing." Be proactive in holding leaders accountable - Jacob Zuma to Africans
