The programme, designed to prepare both new and returning Members of Parliament for their roles in governance, took an unexpected turn when Afenyo-Markin incorporated Freemasonry principles into his address.

His focus was on the themes of unity, humility, and equality in leadership, which he said were key to effective governance.

In his speech, Afenyo-Markin quoted from the Freemasons' second-degree working tools, stating: "We have all sprung from the same stock, partakers of the same nature, and sharers in the same hope.
