The Public Utilities Workers Union (PUWU) of TUC Ghana has reaffirmed its staunch opposition to the privatisation of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), citing concerns over the long-term sustainability and affordability of Ghana's energy sector.
In a press release congratulating President John Dramani Mahama on his electoral victory, PUWU commended his administration's commitment to tackling challenges in the energy, housing, and water sectors.
The union, representing workers primarily in the utilities and housing sectors, expressed its readiness to collaborate with the government to find lasting and cost-effective solutions to these pressing issues.
However, PUWU cautioned against the growing calls from various interest groups advocating for the privatisation of ECG as a solution to the energy sector's problems.
