Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo Markin, has called for a transparent plan detailing the removal of certain taxes as the new government prepares to implement its fiscal policies.
This call is specifically aimed at fulfilling the campaign promises made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including the scrapping of the controversial e-levy and betting tax.
During his opening remarks at the Appointment's Committee sitting on January 13, 2025, Afenyo Markin stressed the need for a clear roadmap that would outline which taxes would be removed and when. "We need a clear road map.
Which taxes are going to be scrapped, and when will that happen?" he asked, emphasizing that transparency was essential in building trust with the public.
