Child Rights International has issued a statement emphasising the importance of upholding the Free Senior High School policy in Ghana amidst rising concerns over logistical challenges.

The organisation's statement opposed recent suggestions that parents should provide food and other essential provisions to support their children in senior high schools, citing that such measures undermine the core principles of the policy.

In a January 11 statement signed by its Executive Director Bright Appiah, Child Rights International highlighted that transferring responsibilities such as feeding and accommodation to parents could exacerbate inequalities, ultimately defeating the programme's purpose of providing equitable and inclusive education for all.

Introduced in 2017, the Free SHS policy was designed to ensure that every Ghanaian child has access to secondary education without financial barriers.
