Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, says the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government's plan to privatise the energy sector.

This comes in response to the looming power crisis, commonly referred to as "dumsor," which has plagued the nation for years. "We will support you.

We are not going to go on a tangent that you guys went with respect to PDS when we felt that the sector would have to be privatised," Assafuah stated on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday.

He recalled the previous administration's attempts to privatise the Electricity Company of Ghana to the Power Distribution Services which faced significant opposition and allegations of fraud and procurement inaccuracies. "We heard a number of them saying that we cannot do so.
