The Tarkwa Circuit Court has sentenced a 24-year-old ex-convict, Kofi Essien also known as 'Buffon' to eight years imprisonment with hard labour for threatening to harm his mother at Wassa Essikuma in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.

Essien, an illegal miner, who was also charged for causing unlawful damage, pleaded guilty with an explanation on both counts.

Prosecuting Chief Superintendent Alex Odonkor narrated to the court presided over by Mrs Hathia Ama Manu that the complainant, Madam Agnes Boadi, farmer, 47, was the complainant and the biological son of Essien.

The complainant and Essien resided in the same house at Wassa Essikuma.
