President has announced that Ghanaians will enjoy an extra holiday to mark the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, fulfilling a key campaign promise he made during the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at the National Muslim Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held at the National Mosque at Kanda on Friday, January 10, 2025, the president assured that the Holidays Act would soon be amended to accommodate this new addition. "We promised to add one more holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr.

So, as soon as Parliament settles, we are going to amend the Holidays Act to include an extra holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

This means that this year, after the Ramadan fast, we will have two holidays for the Salah festivities," he stated.
