The Ghana National Fire Service has begun investigating reports of fire personnel extorting traders impacted by the recent Kantamanto fire.
The investigations announced by the GNFS come after multiple reports of victims being asked to pay money for attestation letters by fire officials.
In a statement dated January 9, 2025, the Head of Public Relations, DO II Desmond E.
Ackah, stated that officers found guilty of extorting money from the victims will be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the GNFS. "The Service has received reports that some victims have been asked to pay monies for these letters at the Accra City Fire Station.
