President John Dramani Mahama, on January 9, 2025, announced the nomination of three minister-designates to key government positions.
The nominees, designated for the Finance, Energy, and Attorney General and Justice portfolios, have had their names submitted to Parliament for vetting to proceed.
However, reacting to the announcement, the Minority Leader, Afenyo-Markin, expressed dissatisfaction, describing the appointments as "tot-tot." He argued that the Mahama-led government, which promised a 24-hour economy during its time in opposition, should have been better prepared to fill its ministerial positions immediately after assuming office. "Mr Speaker, when the names were read out by Mr Speaker, he read out only three names: the Finance Minister-designate, the Energy Minister-designate, and the Attorney General and Minister of Justice-designate. "Mr.
Speaker, this tot-tot-tot-tot appointment is unacceptable.
