The current Member of Parliament for the Sekondi constituency in the Western Region, Blay Nyamekye Armah, has revealed that he plans to relocate the statue of President Akufo-Addo erected in his constituency back to his hometown in the Eastern Region.
Speaking during a press engagement, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP, serving his first term in Parliament, said he would send a petition to the President seeking permission to relocate the statue to Kyebi, former President Akufo-Addo's hometown.
Nyamekye said the statue was not needed in his constituency and was only a vanity project by the former leader.
Recall that before the election, a statue of Nana Akufo-Addo was erected at the entrance of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi as a thank-you to him for his development projects in the region.
