The Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has raised objection with the description of his caucus as "micro" by the Speaker of Parliament, , during proceedings on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
While reacting to an MP's objection to the Majority Leader's use of the title "Osahen" on parliamentary records, the Speaker, in a jest, stated that it remains part of his duty to protect "the leader of the micro minority." The comment by the Speaker attracted a sharp objection by the NPP Caucus which had its members rising to their feet in protest.
Rising to his feet, the Majority Leader emphasised the caucus's objection to the description.
The Speaker, in response, agreed to the Minority's objection, noting it as justified and stated that he will forthwith not use the term on the caucus again.
