Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, a stalwart of Ghanaian politics, has once again taken the mantle as Speaker of Parliament, vowing to leverage his unparalleled experience to guide the 9th Parliament.
In his acceptance speech, he emphasised the themes of unity, collaboration, and the pivotal role of Parliament as a "bulwark of democracy." Alban Bagbin, who holds the distinction of being Ghana's longest-serving legislator, highlighted his evolution as a leader. "I came to the Speaker of the Eighth Parliament with my experience as the longest legislator of the House. "I now come to the 9th Parliament not only with that background but with the experience of four years of speakership in a very difficult hung parliament," he noted.
His tenure leading the 8th Parliament, marked by its unique composition and challenges, has honed his ability to navigate political intricacies.
With this foundation, Mr Bagbin promised to apply lessons learned to foster greater efficiency and effectiveness in the 9th Parliament.
