Former National Security Minister Kofi Totobi Quakyi has strongly denied allegations made by Patricia Appiagyei, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Asokwa, accusing him of being involved in post-election violence.
Appiagyei, who raised the accusations in a press briefing, claimed that Totobi Quakyi and former National Security Coordinator Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, both of whom are linked to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), were responsible for orchestrating violent incidents following the 2024 General Elections.
Totobi Quakyi, in a statement released on January 6, 2025, categorically refuted these claims, calling them "categorically false, malicious, and baseless." He expressed deep disappointment, particularly given his long-standing commitment to Ghana's peace and security. "For an Honorable Member of Parliament to make such wayward, irresponsible statements is deeply troubling," he said.
He went on to highlight his decades of public service, especially as a former Minister for National Security, and reaffirmed his vested interest in maintaining the country's stability.
