The Office of the President has announced that following a review of the petition for the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in consultation with the Council of State, has concluded that the petition does not present a prima facie case to warrant further action.

The petition, filed by Professor Stephen Kwaku Asare, accused the Chief Justice of misbehaviour and incompetence.

However, in a statement released on Monday, January 6, the Office of the President highlighted several deficiencies in the petition.

It noted that after a thorough review, the allegations lacked sufficient evidence to support the claims made. "The principal ones were: The petition was submitted without supporting evidence or documentation to substantiate its claims.
