The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has expressed regret over the chaos that occurred on January 7, 2021, during the election of the Speaker for the 8th Parliament.
Speaking during the dissolution of the 8th Parliament, Bagbin condemned the actions of certain members who attempted to disrupt the secret balloting process.
He described their conduct as "regrettable," emphasizing that it tarnished the honour and dignity of the House.
Bagbin also called on Ghanaians to forgive Parliament for the actions of those involved, acknowledging that the incident was a violation of the integrity of the legislative process. "Honourable members, let me underscore the debacle that happened on the 7th of January 2021.
