Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Leader of the Majority Caucus in the 8th Parliament, has encouraged Members of Parliament (MPs) who lost their seats in the 2024 elections to find ways to re-engage with public service.
In his farewell address during the dissolution of the 8th Parliament, Afenyo-Markin urged younger MPs from both sides who lost their seats to reconnect with their constituencies and reflect on the reasons behind their defeat.
He also advised retiring senior MPs to offer their guidance and share their expertise with those returning to public service, helping them navigate their journey back into the political sphere. "For those of you who are getting out of parliament, please the younger ones from both sides of the aisle, please don't give up on public service.
There are mistakes we all make.
