Hearts of Oak defeated Legon Cities 1-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday night to move to second place in the Ghana Premier League, two points behind league leaders Heart of Lions.
A largely insipid first half saw both sides give the ball away fecklessly in midfield on numerous occasions.
Buoyed by the return of goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, Hearts of Oak were resolute in defence as they thwarted all attempts from Legon Cities in the first half.
At the other end of the pitch, Hearts managed to find the back of the net with Ahmed Ramzy Yussif making a darting run before drilling his shot into Legon Cities' goal on the stroke of half time.
