The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has secured the Dome Kwabenya parliamentary seat for the first time.

Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, the NDC candidate, was declared the winner by the Electoral Commission (EC) on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, after a closely contested race.

She garnered 50,967 votes, narrowly surpassing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Mike Oquaye Jr., who received 50,669 votes.

In an emergency meeting of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) on December 31, the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Jean Mensa, confirmed the declaration of results for the Dome Kwabenya Constituency. "Today, we are pleased to announce that the proceedings and collation at the Dome Kwabenya Constituency have come to a close.
