The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially declared Faustina Akurugu Elikplim, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, as the duly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the Dome Kwabenya Constituency.
The announcement resolves a controversy that arose after the EC called for a rerun of elections at the Abokobi Women's Development Centre within the constituency, a move rejected by the NDC.
Initially, the EC declared Faustina Akurugu the winner, but later questioned the validity of some pink sheets from the constituency, citing non-compliance with electoral standards.
This led to the call for a rerun.
