MP-elect Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has criticised a senior police officer whom he accuses of manoeuvring to replace Dr George Akuffo Dampare as Inspector-General of Police (IGP) following the NDC's victory in the polls.
According to A Plus, this senior officer, who was allegedly promoted by President Akufo-Addo to undermine IGP Dampare due to his refusal to engage in electoral manipulation, is now attempting to position himself as the ideal candidate for the role.
The remarks follow pre-election concerns about President Akufo-Addo's elevation of Mr Christian Yohonu to the role of Deputy Inspector-General of Police.
In a Facebook post on Friday, 27 December 2024, A Plus argued that the country needs individuals who are fair and professional, like Dr Dampare, in leadership positions to foster national development-not those who prioritise party loyalty over the nation. "I'm curious about how it seems everyone in Ghana is now a member of the NDC, including a police officer who was reportedly appointed by Akufo-Addo to assist in election rigging.
