A member of the Communication Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Beatrice Annan, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly appointing some of its foot soldiers as judges, a move she described as a disservice to Ghana's judiciary.
During a recent panel discussion, Beatrice Annan accused the NPP of undermining the integrity of the judicial system by prioritizing partisan interests over merit.
She cited Justice Ernest Yao Gaewu as an example, claiming that he was appointed as a Justice of the High Court due to his affiliations with the NPP rather than his qualifications.
She characterized the appointment as "low" and emblematic of the ruling party's alleged disregard for judicial impartiality. "Judicial power is not political power to be wielded for the benefit of your party," Annan remarked. "It is not a tool to reward girlfriends, side chics, or party loyalists.
