Samuel Koku Anyidoho, the former aide to the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, has accused John Mahama of deceiving Ghanaians by proposing to introduce a national day of prayer. According to Anyidoho, the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving was actually initiated by the late President Mills.
"Please stop the gross deception because President Atta-Mills introduced the National Day of Prayer & Thanksgiving in 2009, 2010, 2011, & 2012 at Independence Square."
He made this statement in a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, on August 16, 2024. Anyidoho further mentioned that the initiative was abolished by former President John Dramani Mahama when he assumed office. He advised John Mahama to acknowledge that he wanted to re-introduce it instead of claiming the introduction. Koku said, "You took over as President and canceled it.
