The Member of -Elect for the Asante Akyem North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, has stated his intention of joining the National Democratic Congress Caucus in the upcoming 9th .

According to GHOne TV, Kwame Frimpong said that he would be caucusing with the NDC, which is set to form the Majority Caucus in the 9th because of the needs of his constituents. "As an independent MP, I will caucus with the NDC because my constituency needs development," he is quoted to have said.

Kwame Frimpong snatched the Asante Akyem North seat from the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of (MP) for the constituency, .

Ohene garnered a whopping 26,926 votes, beating the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP and candidate Andy Appiah-Kubi, who received 8,933 votes.
