The Institute for Education Studies (IFEST) has called on the government to enhance its efforts and secure the necessary funding for senior high schools (SHSs) to ensure a smooth resumption of academic activities.

This plea follows growing concerns about the financial challenges faced by these institutions, which has put the reopening of SHSs nationwide at risk of being postponed due to delays in the release of funds needed to facilitate the smooth commencement of the second term.

In a notice, the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) appealed to the Ministry of Education for the immediate release of outstanding funds to ensure the seamless operation of SHSs across Ghana.

With schools scheduled to reopen for the 2025 academic year on January 3, CHASS warned that unresolved financial shortfalls could disrupt academic activities and compromise student welfare.
