The Ministry of Education has released an additional GH₵25 million to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to support its operations and ensure the smooth and seamless continuation of marking activities.

This follows mounting concerns over the potential delay in the release of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results due to the government's outstanding debts to WAEC.

WAEC had expressed apprehension regarding the financial situation, which could jeopardize the marking process.

WAEC had also expressed disappointment over the GH¢25 million cedis recently released by the government to offset part of the GH¢118 million debt owed to the Council.
