Former Greater Accra Chairman for the (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker, has asserted that Vice President , the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has turned himself into the opposition leader. According to him, the vice president is going around the country denouncing and promising to cancel the policies of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government, of which he is an integral part. Ade Coker, who made these remarks in an interview on XYZ TV on August 15, 2024, said that the NPP flagbearer, by denouncing the policies of his own government, is telling the people of Ghana that his main contender for the 2024 poll, former President , the flagbearer of the NDC, was a better president when he was in office.
"Now that Bawumia has become the opposition leader, he doesn't say anything about his government. He says, 'I would cancel E-Levy when I am voted into office,' but his government is implementing it now; he says he would abolish the betting tax, but the tax is being taken by this government.
"He says he would reduce electricity tariffs, but they are going up now under his government. When he comes, the dollar rate will go down, but the rate is going up now.
