President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has condemned the post-election violence that marred the aftermath of the 2024 general elections, calling for measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The incidents, reportedly involving the vandalism of public property and destruction of Electoral Commission (EC) offices and materials, were allegedly carried out by supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking at the launch of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana's (PCG) Bicentennial Anniversary on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Osu Castle, President Akufo-Addo expressed deep concern about the negative impact of such violence on Ghana's democratic stability.
He emphasized the need to safeguard the nation's democratic principles by ensuring peace and order during and after the electoral processes. "I would like to comment on the elections, an exercise which once again reaffirms Ghana's enviable standing as a beacon of democracy on the African continent and the world.
