US-based Ghanaian photographer found dead in Chicago River

A GoFundMe account has been created in the name of a Ghanaian photographer, Ishmael Amuzu-Quaidoo, who had been residing in Chicago since 2020 but was found dead in the Chicago River on August 3, 2024. While there is little reported news about this incident, a number of TikTok and Facebook accounts have shared videos about the death of the Ghanaian photographer. According to details captured on GoFundMe and sighted by GhanaWeb, Amuzu-Quaidoo went missing on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. He was found unresponsive in the Chicago River four days later and was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.
"On July 31, Ishmael Amuzu Quaidoo, affectionately known as Kobby, was reported missing in the River North/Chicago Loop area. On August 3rd, at 8 a.m., he was tragically found unresponsive in the Chicago River close to Adams Street Bridge.
