The Electoral Commission has officially declared Patrick Boakye-Yiadom, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, as the winner of the Obuasi East parliamentary election following a closely scrutinized recount and re-collation process.

Boakye-Yiadom narrowly retained his seat with 18,558 votes, edging out the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Samuel Aboagye, who secured 18,539 votes.

Independent candidate Adjei Owusu Afriyie received 424 votes.

Discrepancies Trigger Recount The recount was necessitated by discrepancies flagged during the initial collation process, prompting calls for a review.
