President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has acknowledged the severe drought currently affecting the northern regions of Ghana, promising swift government action to address the situation. Speaking during his visit to the Upper East Region for the commissioning of Phase III of the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, the President took the opportunity to comment on the pressing issue, which has significantly impacted agricultural productivity in the area. "As I am in the region, it is important that I take the opportunity to comment on a matter of considerable importance to the people of the northern regions of our country," President Akufo-Addo stated. "I am aware of the impact the unusually dry season has had on farm output, and I want to assure you that the government, in the next few days, will announce measures to address the situation." The prolonged dry season has led to widespread crop failures, threatening the livelihoods of many farmers in the region who depend on agriculture as their primary source of income. The President did not specify the nature of the measures to be announced but indicated that the government is working diligently to formulate a response that could provide relief to those most affected by the drought.   Source: Joshua Asaah
