Ghanaian sprinter Benjamin Azamati has revealed that he once had a trial with Ghana's U20 men's football team, the Black Satellites, before pursuing a career in athletics.
Azamati first made headlines on the international stage at the 2019 African Games in Rabat, Morocco, where he claimed gold in the 100 meters with a remarkable time of 9.97 seconds.
The talented sprinter, who is now regarded as one of Africa's most promising athletes, shared that he initially considered a football career but later shifted his focus to track and field.
This decision was influenced by advice from his Physical Education (PE) teacher during his secondary school days at Legon Presec. "I even had trials with Ghana's U20 men's team in Koforidua.
