The leadership of the Workers Union of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) in the Ashanti Region has called off its strike and resumed water supply to customers following the intervention of key stakeholders.
Management stated that they have received assurances addressing their concerns over what they described as the unlawful demolition of bungalows belonging to senior company directors by a private developer.
While addressing the press, they confirmed the withdrawal of their industrial action and the resumption of water production and supply after days of service disruption. "We just ended the crunch meeting called by the directors of the company and it is in response to the treaties that we have received from key stakeholders within the Ashanti region and the country as a whole concerning the industrial action that we took three days ago.
Essentially the plea is that we back down on our demands and return to production and supply of water to the people of Asanteman.
